WHAT IS EKPHRASIS?
Ekphrasis has Greek origins, and is a vivid, detailed response to visual art through writing. It explores the way imagery can evoke emotion and meaning beyond what can immediately be seen.
Adapted into an online experience, this reflective collage + creative writing workshop invites participants into an intentional creative process from the comfort of their own space.
Through guided meditation, intuitive collage, and reflective storytelling, imagery and language come together as a way to explore emotions and perspectives that are often difficult to access through logic alone.
Participants are welcome to create using any materials they already have at home, including magazines, photographs, journals, printed imagery, or found materials that feel personally meaningful.
No artistic or writing experience is needed; only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore.
WHO IS THIS EXPERIENCE FOR?
Designed for women interested in listening more deeply to themselves. Whether you consider yourself artistic or not, this gathering is intended as a welcoming space to create intuitively, and reflect in community with others.
WHAT TO BRING?
• magazines, newspapers, printed imagery, or photographs
• scissors and glue
• paper, a journal, or a notepad
• pens or markers
• any meaningful or sentimental materials you’d like to incorporate into your collage
